The GMC 2-53 roots type blower was built for Detroit’s 53 series diesel engines. The 2-53 has a 4.375 inch rotor length, 2 lobes and runs at higher RPMs than the 71 series. RPMs are reported to be somewhere in the 2,500 to 2,800 RPM range. Due to the lobe design this model runs louder than the similar model in the 71 series. Further the 2-53 has a non-standard case with a side inlet.
