Edelbrock becomes the first to achieve one horsepower per cubic inch.

Using a new 1958 283 cubic inch Chevy engine with the Edelbrock X1 (Cross) ram six-carburetor manifold and six Stromberg 97 carbs on pump gas the record was made when the dynamometer reported 284 horsepower.
